08/17/2017 - NRDC researcher wins Fulbright to study energy management aspects of Yurts in Mongolia

08/17/2017 - Kim Dupont-Madinier, R&D Designer for CertainTeed's Building Systems and Assemblies Design Platform, has won a Fulbright scholarship to research the energy management aspects of indigenous Mongolian textile homes, commonly known as Yurts in the West.  Throughout a year-long leave of absence from Northboro, Kim will research Yurts in four different rural nomadic communities in Mongolia.   She will work with a vocational university, The Institute of Engineering and Technology, and GerHub, an NGO, in Ulaanbataar to design and develop a more insulative and better performing Yurt for the winter months in the capital – where temperatures drop to -40 degrees Celsius.
