In Our Own Words

Paul

“After many years in a small business R&D environment, I started working for Saint-Gobain in 2006 as an R&D Group leader in the Technical Shared Services at Saint-Gobain Research North America. I left the company after 1 year while my wife finished graduate school in Missouri, but I was determined to return for numerous reasons. I was fortunate enough to rejoin Saint-Gobain in 2009 as a Senior Researcher in Superabrasives. Then, in 2014, I transitioned to a R&D Manager role in the Competency Research Labs that supports the many Business R&D teams represented in Northboro, MA.

I truly cherish the diversity at Saint-Gobain Research North America in terms of technical expertise, capabilities, and breadth of projects, but also cultural diversity, where approximately 30 nationalities are represented on one campus of approximately 350 people. I am currently coordinating a global domain watch on Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing. This gives me the opportunity to keep a close eye on the amazing developments that are happening in a rapidly changing industry and to find opportunities for our 351 year old company. However, what makes Saint-Gobain an enjoyable place to work are the people.

I have the pleasure of working with so many talented and creative colleagues who work on challenging, but rewarding R&D projects. Every day, research provides our teams with opportunities to discover or explore something that may have never been done before... ever! It might be the creation of a unique material, a breakthrough in a new process, an idea for a new product, or an improvement for an existing one. What other careers provide the prospect of discovery and innovation every day? It's that type of excitement that motivates many of us in our daily work and ultimately drives a vibrant R&D community at Saint-Gobain Research North America.”
